Firm Attorneys Attend National Immigration Conference

Each year, the American Immigration Lawyers Association ("AILA") hosts an annual conference showcasing the country's leading experts in their fields of immigration law. All of the attorneys from our firm attended the conference, held this year in Boston.

The AILA Annual Conference presents an opportunity for attorneys to develop their skills and hone their education by attending lectures and panels on advanced immigration topics. The AILA Annual Conference not only allows attorneys to hear the latest advancements and strategies in the field, it permits valuable networking opportunities across the country and around the world. The result is to keep Kolko & Associates attorneys in tune with advancements in the law and keep our clients on the cutting edge of developments and strategies.

Not only did our attorneys attend to learn, some of our attorneys were also invited to share their cutting-edge knowledge with other practitioners as lecturers. As a nationally-recognized leader in the field of business immigration, Managing Partner, David Kolko, lectured on business fundamentals. Senior Associate Attorney, Bryon M. Large, addressed the latest changes in LGBT immigration law since the implementation of the Windsor decision and the fall of the Defense of Marriage Act ("DOMA").

The Annual Conference also marks AILA's new year in management, and our attorneys are active participants in AILA leadership. Managing Partner David Kolko recently began his term as the Chair of the Colorado Chapter of AILA, a position which places him on the AILA National Board of Governors, representing Colorado's interests. Senior Associate Attorney, Bryon M. Large begins his term as the Vice-Chair of the national LGBT Immigration Working Group, a small committee charged with oversight of LGBT issues in federal immigration, as well as educating attorneys nationwide on LGBT immigration issues.
