
Here’s what you need to know:
- The updated test now includes 128 possible civics questions.
- At the naturalization interview, applicants will be asked up to 20 questions.
- To pass, applicants must answer at least 12 questions correctly.
Who Does This Change Apply To?
- The updated civics test does not apply to N-400 applications already pending with USCIS.
- It also does not apply to N-400 applications received by USCIS on or before October 20, 2025.
- N-400 applications received by USCIS on or after October 21, 2025, will be subject to the updated civics test.
