Over the past two years, due to a major shift in priorities by the Department of Homeland Security, as well as a very understaffed court, the Denver Immigration Court put thousands of cases on hold and set hearings out to a “place holder” date of November 29, 2019.
In recent weeks, the Colorado Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association has been informed by the Court that it will begin resetting those hearings to earlier dates. Our office has already begun to receive new hearing notices with earlier dates. It appears as though Denver is expected to bring on several new Immigration Judges over the next year or so, and cases are expected to resume normal processing over the next year.
If you have a November 29, 2019 hearing date, it is expected that your hearing will be reset to a new earlier date. While some cases have already been reset, many have not. Respondents in removal proceedings should check with their lawyer, or call 1-800-898-7180 for updated case processing information in English or Spanish.
