The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) has selected several of our attorneys to participate on national committees related to the practice of immigration law. It is an honor for our Firm to have nationally-known attorneys be recognized for their work and selected as leaders in the community.

Managing Partner David Kolko has been asked to join the USCIS Field Operations Liaison Committee. The committee operates as a liaison between AILA and USCIS on a national level, working hard to identify and correct issues, and keep a clear and open dialogue between our association and the agency.

Partner Jennifer Casey has been selected to join the EOIR Liaison Committee.  EOIR, or the Executive Office for Immigration Review, is the agency which houses the Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals. In her capacity on the committee, Ms. Casey and her fellow committee members will work to ensure open channels of communication between AILA and the immigration court system. Ms. Casey has spent the last two years serving as the local EOIR liaison with the Denver Immigration Court and the Colorado Chapter of AILA. Her work in that committee was vital in dealing with the court closure and coordination related to family detention in Artesia, New Mexico, and Dilley, Texas.

Senior Associate Attorney Bryon M. Large has been asked to serve as Chair of the LGBT Working Group at AILA. Bryon has served on the Working Group for a number of years, most recently as its Vice-Chair. The LGBT Working Group is a committee made up of the nation’s best known immigration attorneys working on LGBT issues in the field of immigration. The Working Group took a significant “hands on” approach following federal recognition of marriage equality and worked hard to ensure equal implementation of the law throughout all of the various agencies which handle immigration matters.

We are excited and honored to have our attorneys participate in national leadership, working hard to improve the practice of immigration law.
