Biography
Alex Gavern is an Associate Attorney at Kolko & Associates, P.C., where he specializes in U.S. Immigration Law. He is licensed to practice law in Colorado.
Alex grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Spanish in 2009. After graduation, Alex served as an AmeriCorps member in Tucson, Arizona, working at an alternative high school. It was during his AmeriCorps service that Alex found his passion for immigration issues and decided to pursue a legal career.
Alex earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Michigan State University (MSU) College of Law in East Lansing, Michigan in 2014. During law school, Alex had the privilege of participating in MSU’s Immigration Law Clinic, representing children and victims of domestic violence in their immigration proceedings. Alex also had the opportunity to intern with the Women's Refugee Commission in Washington, D.C. working for comprehensive immigration reform.
Before joining Kolko & Casey, P.C., Alex was the pro bono coordinator and a staff attorney at the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN). At RMIAN, Alex represented clients in both RMIAN’s Children’s and Detention Programs.
In his time away from the office, Alex enjoys playing baseball, traveling, playing guitar, and going to hear live music with his wife.
